Histology Specialist


Duties and Responsibilities:  Histology specialist cut sections of tissue and places them to examine them into a microscope. The examine the tissue specimens in paraffin wax blocks or infiltrate tissue specimens with wax.  By examining the tissue under the microscope they make sure that the tissue preparation is to the laboratory requirements.  They are also to maintain all tools used in the laboratory such as Microscopes, Mass spectrometers, Microtomes, immunostainers, Tissue processor embedding centers, and water baths.


Salary: $22,000-$35,000
              $30,000-$50,000


Education:  Students need to take courses such as science, math, & English in high school years. To become a histology specialist you must earn an associate degree and can also earn a bachelor’s degree.  Also you must complete a year of completing an internship. And lastly you must pass the National examination.


 Reflection ; I really wouldn’t like to choose in this career because having to deal with cutting tissue  doesn’t make me comfturble  it gives me the woozies  even thinking about it , also because it not something I’m interested it  not in the field that I’m not interested in .
