Operating Room Technician

Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating Room Technicians are also known for surgical Technologist. Their job is to assist in operating rooms for surgery. Their Responsibilities are to have surgical tools ready such like, sterile bandages, linens, special fluids, and other equipment needed for surgery. They also help doctors by handing them the tools needed during surgery. Their duty is to count sponges needed and needles before and after surgery. One of their other responsibilities is to deliver specimens to hospitals laboratories for analysis. Once operations are over they are to take patients to the recovery room.

Salary: $16,000-$22,000



Educational Requirements:   
In order to be an Operating room technician it is required to have high school diploma or GED certificate.  Vocational and junior colleges offer programs in operating room technology, & offer training which also is offered in hospitals. Programs may take as long as a year to two years.  You will be trained in medical terminology, physiology, & sterilization methods. in order to complete your  training you must pass the Association of surgical technologist to become certified .

Reflection:

In my opinion, taking a career choice in this field would be something that I would consider in taking because I've always said if I ever go into the medical field I would choose something like this, something that has to do with surgery.

Health Sciences Liberian

Duties and Responsibilities:

A health sciences Liberian job is to collect and organize medical 
information; they also help practioners to find the information needed for a patient care, education, research, and administration.  Their responsibilities are to select and acquire books, journals, and other library material. Their responsibility is also to care for electronic and digital information systems. They are to organize the information into collections and are to develop catalog’s access and provide reference assistance. They are also to coordinate and control for budgets and suppressive library technicians.

Salary:

  $20,000 - $30,000 (library technicians)
  $35,000-$55,000 (librarians)  
Education:

 Student must take courses in high school such as Science, math, 
English. Some health sciences library technicians are to have been provided training, but mostly all prefer for student to complete their library technician programs at a community college or technical school. You can earn an associate degree in many of the programs offered.


Reflection:

In my opinion I don’t see myself in this kind of career , I just see myself doing something different in another field that doesn't have to do with medicine .

Electroneurodiagnostic Technologist


Duties and Responsibilities:
Electroneurodiagnostic technologist use electronic graphs to determine if patients are suffering from a central nervous system condition or disease like epilepsy, tumors, stroke, or trauma. The graphs are recodes of the brains electrical activity. 
Electroneurodiagnostic technologists usually work in hospitals, laboratories, or physicians’ ‘offices. They:

·         Prepare medical records
·         Apply electrodes and select instrumental settings
·         Perform Electroneurodiagnostic tests.
·         Adjust and maintain their equipment.                                  

·         Record test result
·         Identify patients’.


Average salary: $20,000-$35,000

Educational Requirements:

Electroneurodiagnostic technologists must have a high school diploma and some courses in computer technology before beginning specialized training.

Electroneurodiagnostic training can be obtained through vocational schools, community colleges, and in some cases hospitals. Training takes one year and is followed by another year of supervised experiences. Before beginning practice Electroneurodiagnostic technologist must pass written and oral examinations.


Choose the right!!!!

In my opinion i wouldn't choose this field reason why i think its something i don't see my self doing this career for the rest of my life , and i don't really have an interest in the medical field .

Dialysis Technician

Duties and responsibilities:
  Dialysis Technician’s operate machines that remove waste and excess fluids from the blood of patients whose kidneys can no longer carry out those functions. Dialysis technicians are also referred to as real dialysis technicians, hemodialysis technicians, or nephrology technicians. They work under the supervision of physicians, primarily in hospitals and clinics.

Dialysis technicians must fully understand the operation of the kidney dialysis machines. They are responsible for their operation, cleaning and sterilization. They must also fully understand their patient’s needs. Dialysis technicians carefully monitor and record weight and vital signs before, during, and after the blood cleansing procedures. Additionally, they instruct patients about in – home treatments. Because dialysis technicians work with blood, they must exercise strict safety precautions against infectious disease such as hepatitis and AIDS.

Rehabilitation or Mental Health counselors


Duties and responsibilities:
Rehabilitation or mental health counselors work with the mentally, emotionally, and physically disabled. It is their job to help patients develop more faith in themselves. They work patients to help them become self-sufficient and productive. Counselors often work with their patient’s doctors and family. Counselors may work in private practice, for schools, industry, or in hospitals or residential health care settings. Counselors often:
·         Work with patients who abuse alcohol or addicted drugs
·         Interview and observe patients to determine problem areas
·         Conduct personality, aptitude. achievement , and psychological test
·         Help patients find and keep jobs


Average salary: $25.000-$45,000
Educational Requirements:
Students interested in becoming counselors should take challenging high school curriculum.
A bachelor’s degree in education psychology or sociology is the minimum requirement for low level counseling jobs, but a master degree is required for the most .to become licensed by a state , counselors  must pass written and oral  examinations and work for about two years in a supervised clinical setting .

Educational Requirements:

   Students should take high school courses in business, information, management, science, math, and English.

  Coding specialists must have a high school diploma or GED certificate. Training is usually conducted on the high gob, but classes are offered at technical schools and community colleges. To become certified, specialists must pass an examination.
  Accredited record technicians must earn  an associate’s degree from an accepted college program or form the American health information Management associations Independent study Program .Additionally ,the must pass a credentialing examination.


  Record administrators must complete a bachelor’s degree program in the field and pass a certification examination.

Duties and responsibilities;
Nurse practitioners and clinical nurse specialists are advanced practice registered nurses who have received special courses and training. They usually work closely with doctors and can perform many high level primary care tasks. They often specialize in specific types of practice such as pediatrics, psychiatry, or obstetrics. Some establish private practices; however, most work in doctors ‘offices, hospitals, or neighborhood health centers. Duties often include:

Biomedical Engineers use engineering principles to solve health related and medical problems. They do a lot of research in conjunction with life scientists, chemists, and medical professionals to design medical devices like artificial hearts, pacemakers, dialysis machines, and surgical lasers. Duties and responsibilities:
