Room Technician
Duties and Responsibilities:
Operating Room Technicians are also known for surgical Technologist.
Their job is to assist in operating rooms for surgery. Their Responsibilities
are to have surgical tools ready such like, sterile bandages, linens, special fluids,
and other equipment needed for surgery. They also help doctors by handing them
the tools needed during surgery. Their duty is to count sponges needed and needles
before and after surgery. One of their other responsibilities is to deliver specimens
to hospitals laboratories for analysis. Once operations are over they are to
take patients to the recovery room.
Salary: $16,000-$22,000
Educational Requirements:
In order to be an Operating room technician it is required to
have high school diploma or GED certificate.
Vocational and junior colleges offer programs in operating room technology,
& offer training which also is offered in hospitals. Programs may take as
long as a year to two years. You will be
trained in medical terminology, physiology, & sterilization methods. in
order to complete your training you must
pass the Association of surgical technologist to become certified .
Reflection:
In my opinion, taking a career choice in this field would be
something that I would consider in taking because I've always said if I ever go
into the medical field I would choose something like this, something that has
to do with surgery.
